A little boy named Lanakai disclosed to his mother Krista that his father sexually abused him. Krista immediately reported it to police and child services, yet authorities did nothing to protect him.

Instead, Judge Jasmine Sihra (who later recused herself) ignored the disclosures, refused a proper psychological assessment, and suddenly awarded the father, who lives 8 hours away, full custody without a real trial or evidence hearing. Rather than hand her son over to his identified abuser, Krista did what any protective mother would: she went into hiding to keep him safe.

An Amber Alert was issued, then retracted after massive public backlash exposed that police knew about the abuse allegations but still helped the father’s powerful family (his mother is a retired judge/lawyer). The system is protecting the abuser, not the child.

This case highlights how broken Canada’s family court system is, it routinely ignores child sexual abuse and punishes mothers who try to protect their kids. Judge Jasmine Sihra must be held accountable for her reputation of bias towards fathers and this miscarriage of justice. She must be removed from the bench immediately, as she does not have the child’s best interest in mind. No child should be forced into the arms of an abuser, and no mother should be hunted for doing her job. Children like Lanakai deserve safety. The system must change, one corrupt judge at a time.
