Remove Jackie Coleman as Executive Director at Maryland Hall

Remove Jackie Coleman as Executive Director at Maryland Hall
The Issue
As a current employee at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, I have personally witnessed and experienced the toxic work environment fostered under the leadership of Executive Director Jackie Coleman. The atmosphere has become increasingly detrimental, inequitable, and discriminatory, affecting not only myself but countless others who strive to maintain the respected reputation of this cultural institution.
Jackie Coleman's tenure has been marked by constant turmoil, with numerous employees past and present voicing similar concerns about the hostile work environment. While skilled and qualified past employees have been systematically pushed out or terminated for unjust reasons, reports of inappropriate behavior, prejudice, retaliation, and unjust treatment have driven other resourceful and talented individuals to seek employment elsewhere, thereby diminishing the quality and morale of the staff who remain. The extremely high turnover rate for such a small organization during Coleman's tenure beginning in March of 2022 speaks volumes.
Staff morale is at its lowest and under Jackie Coleman’s leadership, Maryland Hall has not been an organization that fosters respect or support for its team in any way, shape, or form, nor does it prioritize a culture of inclusivity, psychological safety, or open communication.
These issues are not isolated incidents but a clear pattern of misconduct, mismanagement and disregard for both employee well-being and the core values Maryland Hall stands for, highlighting the need for immediate change.
Maryland Hall, as a beacon of culture and arts, deserves leadership that reflects its principles of inclusivity, respect, and collaboration. Jackie Coleman's continued presence as Executive Director undermines these values and compromises the integrity of the institution as a whole.
The solution is clear: it’s time for Maryland Hall's Board to take decisive action by removing Jackie Coleman from her position and seeking a leader who can truly represent and uplift the hall’s mission and extraordinary community.
