The Issue

I am a dedicated student at Cerritos College, currently enrolled in an 'Intro to Psychobiology' course. In an environment where academic fairness is critical to our success and future endeavors, I feel compelled to bring to light an unsettling situation that has adversely affected my academic journey.

The instructor of this course has engaged in unethical grading practices and has displayed unprofessional behavior, which poses a significant barrier to not only my education but also the education of my fellow classmates. Unfair grading can detrimentally impact our GPAs, scholarship opportunities, and even delay our graduation, thus affecting our future career prospects.

Several students have reported receiving grades that do not reflect their performance. Instances of favoritism and bias in grading have been observed, leading to disparity and a lack of trust in the educational process. Examples include the mishandling of assignments and inconsistent feedback, which have left students confused and demoralized.

Furthermore, the instructor’s unprofessional behavior in the virtual classroom, such as making inappropriate remarks and showing a lack of respect for students' concerns, creates a hostile learning environment. Such conduct capitalizes on power dynamics, making it difficult for students to voice their grievances without fear of retaliation.

The removal of this instructor is crucial for re-establishing a fair, respectful, and conducive learning atmosphere. I urge the college administration to conduct a thorough investigation into these claims and take immediate appropriate action to rectify this situation for the benefit of current and future students.

I am calling upon my fellow classmates and the broader Norwalk community to support this petition. Our collective voice can drive change and ensure that our educational standards are upheld. Together, we can advocate for the academic integrity and professionalism that we deserve.

Please sign this petition to urge the administration to address these concerns immediately. Your support is invaluable in our pursuit of fairness and academic excellence.
