REMOVE HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS NOW - WE DESERVE A SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD

The Issue

Encampment Ordinance Updated 11/07/2024

News Report

As a concerned neighborhood, we respectfully request immediate assistance from law enforcement to address the growing homeless encampments on privately owned vacant land within our community. The trustees managing this property have explicitly granted us permission to engage law enforcement for assistance. Despite contacting authorities on three separate occasions, no action has been taken, and the encampments continue to expand.

This situation is causing legitimate concerns due to the unsanitary conditions and biohazard waste accumulating on public streets, which jeopardizes the safety of our families, children, and all community members. In collaboration with HELP of Nevada, we offered assistance to the encampment occupants to help them find support and resources, yet they declined the help extended.

Code enforcement Chief, Jim Andersen. "If the encampment is on private property, code enforcement will send a 30-day notice to the property owner and allow them the chance to clean it up. The county will go in after those 30 days and commence a cleanup if it hasn’t been resolved."

The last request submitted on the application FIXIT- was dated 10/13/2024.

30 Days after - one follow up comment - Today 11/13/2024 nothing is being done by code enforcement.

3 calls to 311 nothing is being done

Kids are not able to walk to school in peace - this encampment invites more homeless coming to damage the neighborhood.
