As a member of Visual Artists Ireland, I am concerned about the current condition imposed by the Arts Council that prevents artists working in full-time employment within funded organisations from applying for certain funding. This restriction limits equitable opportunities and access to essential resources for many talented artists.

The concern surrounding the provision of this funding is already addressed by other conditions and guidance on decision-making processes. By removing this unnecessary barrier, we can ensure that all artists have a fair chance to benefit from available funding, fostering a more inclusive and vibrant arts community as well as allowing artists to contribute to the sector without restrictions.

Artists are a vital resource for many organisations. Removing this restriction opens up a resource pool that is invaluable in a time when organisations are finding it hard to fill positions.
