Remove Fluoridation from Moreton Bay Water Supply

Remove Fluoridation from Moreton Bay Water Supply
The issue
As a resident of Moreton Bay, QLD, I am deeply concerned about the potential health risks that water fluoridation poses to our community, especially to our children and elderly. While fluoride is added to our water supply to help prevent tooth decay, emerging studies suggest that excessive fluoride intake could be harmful, particularly for vulnerable populations like children and elderly individuals.
In children, high levels of fluoride exposure have been linked to dental fluorosis, which affects the appearance of their teeth. More importantly, there are growing concerns about the neurological effects of fluoride, with some studies indicating a possible connection to reduced IQ in children. For the elderly, excessive fluoride can exacerbate the symptoms of conditions such as arthritis and may contribute to bone fractures due to increased brittleness.
Around the world, many countries—including notable ones like Germany and Sweden—have ceased water fluoridation, adopting alternative dental health measures that do not involve potential systemic side effects. It's time for Moreton Bay to consider these approaches and prioritize the health of our community. Public health should not come at the expense of the safety of our vulnerable populations.
A comprehensive review of water fluoridation's impact on our health is urgently needed. We need to push for local government to explore and implement safer and more effective ways to maintain dental health without compromising overall wellbeing. Health is a priority and concerns should not be ignored for the sake of convenience or convention.
By signing this petition, you join me in urging our local government to remove fluoride from our water supply. Together, we can advocate for a healthier and safer future for our families in Moreton Bay. Every signature counts as a step closer to change. Let's protect our children and the elderly by ensuring the water they drink is safe and without unnecessary risks.
