In today's world, privacy is more important than ever. In our community, citizens value their right to privacy and the freedom to move about without being constantly monitored by surveillance technologies. Unfortunately, the recent installation of flock cameras has compromised this deeply held value, subjecting all of us to unwarranted surveillance.

These flock cameras, installed without sufficient public consultation or justification, monitor and record our every move, capturing license plate images and vehicle details as we pass by. Similar surveillance systems increase the risk of exacerbating biases in policing and often operate with little oversight or regulation.

For residents in Windrose, this overtly aggressive form of surveillance feels like an intrusion, turning our peaceful neighborhood into monitored zones. No demonstrable evidence has been provided that these cameras tangibly increase security or reduce crime in our community. Instead, they contribute to a climate of fear and suspicion.

Moreover, privacy advocacy groups have reported significant concerns regarding the storage and usage of the data collected by such cameras. There is a significant lack of transparency about who has access to this data, how long it is stored, and how it might be used or misused. Cases of data breaches only add to the anxiety about personal information being improperly accessed or shared without consent.

We believe that our security can be effectively maintained without sacrificing personal privacy. Rather than employing invasive surveillance technology, our community should explore alternative, less intrusive crime-prevention measures. Solutions such as increasing community policing or investing in local crime prevention programs have proven effective in other similar communities without infringing on personal freedoms.

We call upon our local government officials, including the Windrose HOA, to immediately remove these flock cameras. We request that all collected data be purged and demand full transparency and accountability in any future decisions regarding community surveillance.
