Every time I leave my house, a flock camera tracks my license plate, records car damage, and takes note of any stickers and even my physical appearance. All this information is sent to a database where entities have constant access to it without a warrent or drivers consent. I'm deeply uncomfortable with this level of surveillance. I believe that I, and everyone else in the community, should have the right to keep our privacy without being tracked wherever we go.

Flock cameras, designed to capture vehicle information for security purposes, have been installed across the county. While security is important, these cameras infringe on individual privacy rights. It's concerning that every resident’s movements are meticulously recorded without explicit consent.

Studies have shown that constant surveillance can lead to a society where people feel oppressed and unable to express themselves freely. The chilling effect on personal freedom and the right to privacy cannot be underestimated. Privacy is a fundamental human right, and being subjected to unnecessary surveillance detracts from our personal liberties.

One solution is to remove these cameras and seek alternative security measures that don’t invade privacy. Community-based policing, enhanced lighting in public areas, and increased neighborhood watch programs can serve as effective alternatives. These measures can enhance public safety while respecting individual privacy.

We must urge our county officials to prioritize both safety and privacy by discontinuing the use of flock cameras. Let them know that we value our privacy and demand change.
