The issue
I'm starting this petition because I'm deeply concerned about Fatima Payman's position in the Australian Senate. While serving as a Senator, it has come to light that she holds dual citizenship, yet she refuses to relinquish her Afghan citizenship. This is contrary to Section 44 of the Australian Constitution, which disqualifies anyone with allegiance to a foreign power from being chosen or sitting as a Senator or a Member of the House of Representatives. Her refusal to comply with these constitutional requirements is a blatant disregard for the rules and principles that govern our nation.
Furthermore, Fatima Payman's conduct in the Senate has been extremely divisive, marred by her frequent accusations of racism against other politicians, notably Pauline Hanson. Rather than engaging in constructive dialogue and focusing on the issues that matter to Australians, she has resorted to personal attacks and mudslinging. This behavior not only diminishes the dignity of the Senate but also distracts from the real issues at hand, leaving us with a Senate that is unable to effectively serve the people.
Her tenure in politics has not been marked by any significant achievements that benefit the Australian public. Instead, her time in the Senate has been characterized by conflict and controversy. This is not the representation Australians deserve. It’s time for a change, and it's time to hold our politicians accountable to the same standards expected of ordinary citizens.
This petition calls upon the Australian government and relevant authorities to take immediate action and remove Fatima Payman from the Senate. Our Senators should uphold the values and laws of Australia, not shirk them. Fatima Payman’s continued presence in the Senate undermines the integrity of our political system.
Sign this petition if you believe in upholding the constitutional and ethical standards of our nation’s leaders. Let's work together to ensure that those who represent us do so with dignity, respect, and a commitment to the people and laws of Australia. Together, we can make our voices heard and demand the accountability our democracy deserves.
