The Issue

To: The Board of Trustees and President of The Ohio State University

We, the undersigned Ohioans, are calling for the immediate removal of Dr. Mark Landon as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The recent WOSU report confirming that Dr. Landon received $75,000 annual payments from Jeffrey Epstein’s New York Strategy Group is a direct hit to the integrity of the Wexner Medical Center. But the deeper crisis is the lesson this silence teaches the students and residents of Ohio State.A Department Chair is more than a physician; they are the primary architect of a department’s culture. They are tasked with teaching the next generation of doctors how to navigate the complex ethics of maternal health. By allowing Dr. Landon to maintain his title after years of nondisclosure regarding his ties to the Epstein machine, the University is endorsing a curriculum of silence.

We do not want our future doctors taught that transparency is optional. We do not want them to believe that a seat of power can be held without consequence when a leader fails to do their due diligence.

We are demanding the removal of Dr. Mark Landon to ensure that Ohio State remains an institution of moral excellence.

  • Protect the Students: The University must signal to every medical student and resident that "Protecting Women and Children" is not a slogan. This is a mandate that applies to the leadership as much as the interns.
  • Leadership requires the courage to own one's history. By failing to disclose these ties as Epstein’s crimes became a global horror, Dr. Landon failed the most basic test of medical leadership: Honesty. And in doing so ensured that once the truth of his alignment whether intentional or not would become a liability for the entire program of Obstetrics and Gynecology at OSU, a program dedicated to the health of women and children. Which weakens their cause and their mission.
  • Ohio State cannot claim to protect its community while harboring those who prioritize their own professional survival over the public’s right to know.

The eyes of Ohio’s families and students are on you. It is time to show Ohio that we protect women and children, even when it means making difficult internal corrections. Remove Dr. Landon and prove that the values taught at Ohio State are worth the trust we place in them.

Sincerely,
The Undersigned Citizens of Ohio
