Remove Deledao from Mckinney ISD

Remove Deledao from Mckinney ISD
The Issue
The introduction of the Deledao extension, on every student's Macbooks, into Mckinney ISD was met with expectations of a safer and more controlled online environment for students. However, the reality has fallen short of its intended benefits. The extension uses AI detection to monitor and filter online content, but in practice, it unnecessarily blocks numerous websites, images, videos, and audio. Even educational websites fall victim to this quite ridiculous filtering, hindering students from accessing crucial information for their assignments and educational growth.
This system, intended to be protective, has instead become a barrier. It frequently misidentifies safe content as inappropriate, disrupting the learning process and rendering the search for academic resources a frustrating experience. With mobile devices already banned, the Internet on our Macbooks serves as a primary tool for research and learning. However, with Deledao’s restrictive measures, students are struggling more than ever to complete their assignments efficiently.
Education should inspire and empower, not restrict and obstruct. The challenges posed by the Deledao extension are forcing us to plead with Mckinney ISD to reconsider its necessity. The academic journey is already fraught with challenges; access to valuable learning resources should not be one of them.
Teachers and students alike must join in questioning the efficiency and role of Deledao in our schools. By standing together, we can advocate for an educational environment that fosters freedom of information and supports students in their quest for knowledge. Let us prioritize effective learning over flawed filtering.
Join us in urging Mckinney ISD to remove the Deledao extension and restore unrestricted access to educational resources. Please sign this petition today to make a change for a better learning experience.
