The Issue

Texas is underwater. Please have died. The West is burning. Homes were destroyed. And Washington is ignoring the science.

This summer, catastrophic flooding in central Texas has displaced families and destroyed communities. Meanwhile, record-breaking wildfires continue to rage across the West.

Scientists agree: climate change is fueling these disasters.

But instead of taking action, the Trump administration is hiring scientists who reject the overwhelming evidence of human-caused climate change.

The Department of Energy has brought on at least three figures known for their denial of climate science:

– Steven E. Koonin, former BP oil executive, who has called climate science “unsettled.”

– John Christy and Roy Spencer, who have publicly downplayed the role of fossil fuels in global warming.

This is not a debate. It’s a deliberate disinformation campaign.

While communities suffer, these appointees threaten to undermine decades of rigorous research in order to serve fossil fuel interests. This comes after hundreds of government scientists were already dismissed and federal climate research budgets slashed.

We cannot afford more delay, denial, or deception.

We demand the Department of Energy remove Steven E. Koonin, John Christy, and Roy Spencer from any role influencing U.S. climate and energy policy.

Americans deserve leaders who act on facts—not fossil fuel talking points.

Sign now to protect the future of science—and the safety of our communities.
