The Issue

During a recent youth recreation soccer game in BYSO in Bandera, TX, an alarming incident unfolded on the field. The son of a current board member and coach; Jason Boyd, used force so aggressively against one of my players that it resulted in an unconscious state and a level 1 concussion for the young athlete. Shockingly, no yellow card was issued, and the player responsible for the injury faced no repercussions. Immediate action was needed, yet none was taken, leaving the injured player's wellbeing sidelined.

This regrettable event is a glaring reflection of the negligence and bias exhibited by this board member, who failed to exercise fair judgment and leadership—a crucial responsibility in youth sports where safety and unbiased guidance are paramount.

Children's safety should never be compromised due to favoritism or negligent decision-making. We need leadership within the BYSO recreation soccer organization that prioritizes impartiality and sets a standard for sportsmanship. Having a board member who selectively enforces rules dependent on personal preferences undermines the team spirit and defeats the principles of equity and fairness.

It is essential to ensure fair play and protect our children from harm by holding those in positions of authority accountable. We call for the immediate removal of the biased board member and coach; Jason Boyd. The integrity of Bandera’s youth soccer community and the safety of our children should be prioritized over personal relations.
