I am a resident of Wildcat Run subdivision in Walton, KY, and like many of my fellow community members, I value the trust, friendship, and safety that comes with having consistent neighbors. In recent years, our tight-knit community has seen an increase of short-term rentals, such as AirBnB. This transient nature of residency impedes the establishment of long-term relationships and affects the sense of security within our community. According to a study by The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, neighborhoods characterized by high levels of short-term rentals can experience significant impacts on community cohesion and local quality of life. It's crucial that we preserve the integrity and character of our beloved Wildcat Run subdivision, and one way to do this is through the restriction and removal of short-term rentals. I urge our local representatives to enact regulations that remove these rentals, ensuring that our space remains a place for residents to build long-term connections.
