The Issue

We, the undersigned residents of Harrison County, Texas, demand the complete removal of all Flock Safety (or similar Automated License Plate Reader / ALPR) cameras from public rights-of-way and county property.

These cameras were installed without enough public notice or our direct consent. A private company is now using taxpayer grant money to track the everyday movements of law-abiding citizens. We believe this goes against the spirit of the 4th Amendment and our basic right to privacy.

Why We Oppose These Cameras:

  • A private third-party company controls the system and our data on public roads.
  • There are real risks of hacking, data breaches, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Innocent people can be wrongly flagged, detained, or even jailed due to mistaken identity.
  • This kind of mass surveillance does not fix the root causes of crime — it just creates more government and corporate tracking of regular people.

Cities and counties across the country have already removed these cameras after seeing these same problems. We can do the same here in Harrison County.

Our Requests:

  1. Immediately remove all Flock Safety cameras currently on public roads and rights-of-way in Harrison County.
  2. Do not renew any existing contracts or accept new grants for this technology.
  3. Prohibit future installation of similar systems without a public hearing and a vote by the Commissioners Court after full community input.
  4. Provide a full public report on all costs, grant money used, data collected, and who has accessed it.

We support real public safety, but we did not consent to being constantly tracked on our own roads with our own tax dollars. Please sign and share if you agree.
