I can personally attest to the dangers that truly need attention, having repeatedly called 911 to report impaired drivers on our highways. This underscores the need for our resources to focus on genuine safety concerns rather than automatic ticketing that doesn’t necessarily improve safety.

Numerous studies suggest that speed camera enforcement is most effective in reducing accidents when used in high-risk areas during peak traffic hours. In contrast, low-risk areas with minimal traffic see little benefit in terms of accident prevention but generate significant revenue at the expense of residents. It's crucial that Mississauga's traffic enforcement policies are reviewed and aligned with these findings, directing resources where they are genuinely needed for the safety of all road users.

We urge local authorities in Mississauga to reconsider the placement of speeding cameras and employ a more strategic approach that prioritizes public safety over revenue generation.
