Removal of Grace marks

Subject: Request for regeneration of impartial score cards by removal of grace marking criteria.

 SIR/MADAM

I have appeared for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test conducted by NTA on May 5, 2024.

I hereby request NTA to remove the grace marks criteria as according to me all students lose nearly 15 minutes of their time in filling up OMR details, recording and signing attendence sheet and admit card respectively and also in middle of exam, we are disrupted by invigilators coming for getting all these things done twice. NTA is responsible for conducting medical entrance examination all over India and generate score cards that must be based on fair marking scheme.

This year, lot of irregularities occured in the conduction of NEET. Few examination centres distributed wrong set of question papers, some distributed question paper that differed in language opted by candidates at that particular centre, some centres distributed mismatched omr and question set, some centres face time mismanagement that led to early or delayed exam. It's strange when we talk about all these questions. All this happening on one fine day can't be a coincidence.

Fair conduct of examination is NTA's responsibility and these issues weren't supposed to arise. Since these issues arose, it's clearly NTA to blame. By compensating the 1563 candidates with grace marks, they clearly shrugged aside their duty of maintaining the integrity of exam.

If indeed in some parts of India, candidates faced the issue of time mismanagement or erroneous question/omr set, then NTA could have re-conducted the exam for all those aspirants separately. But simply awarding them grace marks is like they are selling marks to them. Grace marks doesn't help in determining their true potential. A Student scoring 636 got 720 due to grace marks. Candidates scoring due to their hardwork work have fallen 1000+ ranks behind those scoring with grace marks.

By using the normalisation technique, NTA has let the innocent aspirants bear the brunt of their mistakes.

If NTA decides to give grace marks only to few students due to time loss then it will be unjust to the rest of the aspirants who appeared for the exam. My appeal to NTA is that it ought to award grace marks to all the appearing candidates and if this is not possible then it must not give grace marks to any of the candidate and fairly republish the score cards without implementing the normalisation formula.

I believe NTA will do justice to all the Candidates and will definitely not jeopardize the future of Million of NEET Aspirants.

Yours Faithfully,

NEET Aspirant.
