The Issue

Wikie and her son Keijo are the LAST two surviving orcas at Marineland Antibes, a marine park in the south of France that has since closed its doors to the public. Yet these two majestic beings remain behind ~ their world reduced to a tank, their family gone, and their future uncertain. They’ve already endured a lifetime of confinement. Wikie was born in captivity. Keijo has never known the ocean. Together, they circle the same walls their relatives once swam in before passing away one by one. But there issss STILL time to rewrite their story. A natural ocean sanctuary is being prepared for them in Nova Scotia, Canada. The Whale Sanctuary Project offers the promise of peace: no shows X no breeding X no concrete walls. Juuust space, safety, and the rhythm of the sea. Marineland Antibes has the opportunity to lead with compassion. Instead of transferring Wikie and Keijo to yet another marine park ~ where tanks and artificial performances await ~ we urge them to say yes to sanctuary. Yes to healing. Yes to home. This relocation will take effort and cooperation. But it is possible. And it is right. By signing this petition, you’re helping ensure Wikie and Keijo are given the future they deserve. Let’s not let silence be the end of their story. Let’s choose grace. Let’s choose freedom. You guysss!! Let’s be there.🤍
