Relocate 'The Book of Kells' from Trinity College Dublin to its Original Home in Kells, Co. Meath

Relocate 'The Book of Kells' from Trinity College Dublin to its Original Home in Kells, Co. Meath
The Issue
As a secondary school history teacher, I have seen firsthand the impact that tangible pieces of our past can have on students. The 'Book of Kells', an iconic piece of Irish heritage currently housed at Trinity College Dublin, is more than just a historical artifact; it's a symbol of our cultural identity and roots.
The 'Book of Kells', created by Celtic monks around 800 AD, is one of the most beautifully illuminated manuscripts in the world. It was kept in the Abbey of Kells in County Meath for centuries until it was moved to Dublin for safekeeping during turbulent times.
While its current location has allowed many people to appreciate this masterpiece up close, we believe that returning it to its original home would greatly benefit the local community and students. We are not suggesting that access should be limited; rather we propose creating a dedicated space where both locals and tourists can engage with this piece of history.
Returning 'The Book Of Kells' back to its original home would not only boost local tourism but also provide educational opportunities for students studying Irish history and culture right at their doorstep.
We urge those responsible - The Board Of Trinity College Dublin and relevant government bodies - to consider this relocation as an opportunity to enrich our community while preserving our cultural heritage. Please sign this petition if you agree that 'The Book Of Kells' belongs back in Co.Meath where it originated.
