This petition has been started due to a deep concern and disappointment with the current state of American governance, which seems to disregard the very ethos of unity, solidarity, and peace that these global sporting events stand to represent. It does not reflect the values that these international contests, particularly the Olympics, inherently uphold. 

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by USA, Mexico, and Canada, is meant to symbolize harmony amongst nations, brought together by the passionate spirit of sportsmanship. However, considering the liberty-stripping policies and politically charged ethos of the USA government, allowing it to host such a prestigious tournament is contradictory and disheartening. Therefore, the demand is simple; erase the USA’s right to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup and allocate all USA-based matches to Mexico and Canada.

The 2028 Summer Olympics, scheduled to occur in Los Angeles, should also be reassigned to a city that reflects the intrinsic values of the venerable Olympic movement. In light of USA's controversial human rights records, it would be more fitting for cities such as Paris or another previous host to take on this honor. These cities have consistently demonstrated their commitment to uphold the sportsmanship, unity, and humanity that the Olympics stand for.

With 371,000 signatures, Change.org made headlines in 2014 when FIFA was urged to reconsider Qatar's hosting rights due to labor rights violations (Source: BBC, 2014). This illustrates the potential impact of global citizens uniting for a common cause. This is our plea; sign this petition to demonstrate your agreement that the USA should not host these globally respected and revered tournaments, not when they refuse to stand for what these events truly represent.
