I am a resident of Summer's Corner Sweetgrass neighborhood in Summerville, SC, USA. The current location of our group mailboxes is over a quarter mile from some homes, posing safety concerns and accessibility issues for many residents. This situation is not only inconvenient but also potentially dangerous as it exposes us to unnecessary risks when collecting our mail.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) guidelines state that the placement of mailboxes should be convenient for both the customer and carrier (USPS Handbook RE-4). However, this guideline seems to have been overlooked in our neighborhood. There is another set of mailboxes much closer to residences and located in a safer area that could be utilized instead.

We believe that relocating these mailboxes would greatly improve the quality of life for residents by reducing travel distance and increasing safety during daily routines such as picking up mails. It would also align with USPS's own guidelines on mailbox placement.

We have contacted the USPS and they have confirmed that it is the HOA's responsibility and due diligence to consider this request seriously.
