Greetings All, I have received many calls, emails, and messages concerning Dr. York's clemency and it is impossible for me to respond to everyone. So, hopefully this helps clarify some of those inquiries.   The clemency application was submitted to President Obama in late August, which gave the process only five months, a relatively short time for the clemency request to be fully assessed and the necessary recommendations made to the President. I would have liked to submit it earlier, but was unable to do so. That being the case, it is possible the Pardon Attorney and Attorney General were still reviewing the clemency request and never even made a recommendation to President Obama or they did and he made a decision to do nothing. Clemency is not a cut and dry maneuver and as you see from this article, no explanation is provided or required upon denial. When no grant or denial is made by a President all the clemency requests still pending when that President leaves office fall onto the next President. I have attached a link on a high profile clemency request that was denied by President Obama a few days before he left office that may be helpful in providing more clarity into the nature of this remedy.
