The Issue
My name is C’Anna, and I am starting this petition for a deeply personal reason: Oneil South Jr., lovingly known as Budda, is my boyfriend and soon-to-be fiancé. Budda has been wrongfully convicted and incarcerated for burglary and it is a heart-wrenching situation not only for me but for everyone who knows him. This is a plea for justice and for righting a wrong that has affected the lives of our family and community immensely. He has been incarcerated since 03/08/2026 and his bond is 75,000! And the court has yet to prove him guilty…
The American criminal justice system, though designed to uphold justice, sometimes fails, leading to innocent individuals, like Budda, being imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. According to The National Registry of Exonerations, there have been over 2,800 exonerations of wrongfully accused people in the United States since 1989, highlighting that mistakes happen more frequently than we might assume. These mistakes shatter lives, disrupting families and destroying futures.
In Budda’s case, critical evidence was either overlooked or mishandled, leading to a wrongful conviction. I have strong faith in his innocence and trust in the justice system to correct this grave error. This petition is a call to action for a re-evaluation of his case to ensure that justice prevails. The consequences of his incarceration extend beyond him; they hurt his family as in (me) and loved ones deeply. His biological family wants to keep him incarcerated for sum cruel reason… No one will help me with his 3,800 dollar bail.
It's crucial to have transparent and fair judicial processes that can stand up to scrutiny and be corrected when errors are identified. We are asking for an immediate revisiting of Budda’s case by the appropriate judicial authorities to rectify this miscarriage of justice.
