On November 12, 2025, Maria Gomez (known to loved ones as Cynthia) reported to her required check-in at with Immigration Services at126 Northpoint Drive in Houston, TX. For over 10 years, these check-ins have been routine. After signing in and presenting valid documentation and despite an agent acknowledging that her papers were in order, ICE detained her without explanation, without a warrant, and without issuing a Notice to Appear. She has built a life defined by responsibility, service, trust, and stability. This detention did not target her individually but was part of a roundup of individuals attending their required check-ins. Maria was taken to Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, Texas, on November 12, 2025, where she remains unjustly detained.

WHO MARIA IS:

A mother of three

A daughter

A partner

A loyal and trusted friend

A Texas resident

A 20 year employee of Katharine & Company

A trusted member of the community who cares for the elderly

A person with no criminal history

A compliant immigrant who reports annually and follows all legal requirements

WHY THIS MATTERS

Her unlawful detention is causing:

Severe emotional distress for both her and her family

She is experiencing physical distress due to illness while detained, raising serious concern for her health and safety

Fear and concern in the community that respects and depends on her

Maria plays a central role at her job, and her absence is causing significant financial hardship

OUR DEMAND

We call on ICE and the appropriate authorities to:

1. Release Maria immediately

2. Review the wrongful detention

3. Investigate the lack of cause, warrant, or proper procedure

Maria deserves due process.

Her family deserves her safe return home.

Our community deserves justice.
