The Issue

The wait for an IR interview at the U.S. Embassy in Accra is currently at 26 months and continues to grow longer and longer. No interviews letters have been releases in nearly 6 months. The wait has been emotionally taxing and has kept families apart, causing many immense distress and uncertainty. Many individuals are waiting anxiously, yearning to reunite with their loved ones. The delay in the release of interviews in Ghana is affecting countless individuals who have completed all necessary documentation and are now in limbo, with no clarity on when they might proceed to an interview.

For instance, CR1/ IR1 visas, which are designed for spouses of U.S. citizens, are crucial for families to be whole and for couples to live together in the country they call home. However, widespread delays have left many of us stranded in a painful waiting game. Processing times have increased significantly, often taking years it receive an interview. This situation is not just a bureaucratic hurdle; it is a barrier to family unity and personal well-being.

We urge the relevant authorities, particularly the U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana and the State Department to prioritize the issuance of interview letters for documentarily qualified applicants. By providing additional resources and staff to process these visas, the Embassy can help address the backlog and alleviate the hardships faced by many families.

Delaying the process further compounds the struggles faced by individuals who are ready and eligible for their interviews. Not only is this delay emotionally challenging, but it has economic repercussions as well. Families are forced to maintain separate households and incur additional costs, which only adds to their burden.

We can no longer wait in silence. We need immediate action to ensure that families are not kept apart. Please support this petition to expedite the release of interview letters for the IR visa category at the U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana. Let us come together and demand change for ourselves and for all those separated by this issue.

Sign this petition today to sent to the State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana. Help us reunite our families.
