Reject the Special Exception Permit for MotorCross Track in West Creek Township

The Issue

I live in a peaceful, rural residential area of West Creek Township, Lowell, Indiana. Our community is being threatened by an application for a Recreational Special Exception Class B permit. This permit would allow the use of an existing 8-acre motocross track targeted for county neighborhood use in the permit application.  This track isn't just any field; it's a professional motocross racetrack complete with multiple jumps and hills designed specifically for performance dirt bikes.

The noise from these bikes can be heard up to a mile and a quarter away from the track - that's far beyond its boundaries and into our homes. Imagine more than four dirt bikes revving their engines at any given time during the day, all year round. The proposed permit would even allow any off-road vehicles including snowmobiles to operate on this track.

This is not what we envision when we think about our rural agricultural residential area. We value peace, tranquility and respect for our environment - values that are incompatible with the excessive noise and disruption caused by such activities.

We urge local authorities to consider these factors when reviewing this application. Let's preserve the character of our community and reject this special exception permit application that threatens to disrupt our way of life in West Creek Township.

Please sign this petition if you share these concerns about preserving peace in our neighborhood.
