I am writing this petition on behalf of a close friend whose eco-farm and retreat are under serious threat if the proposed solar farm in Geurie farmland goes ahead.

His property overlooks a beautiful valley, home to numerous native animals and a wide variety of tree species. The construction of a large-scale solar farm will permanently alter the landscape, disrupting the scenic views and potentially threatening local wildlife—including birds and bats—through collisions with infrastructure and the fragmentation of natural habitats.

Additionally, the surrounding fertile agricultural land will be rendered unusable, displacing local farming operations and dealing a blow to our regional economy. The loss of productive farmland affects not just individual farmers, but the broader community that relies on agriculture as a key economic driver.

This development also poses a significant risk to eco-tourism ventures like my friend’s retreat, which depend heavily on the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area to attract visitors. The cumulative economic, environmental, and social impacts of this proposal are far-reaching and deeply concerning.
