The Issue

I write this as someone who dedicated two decades of my life serving as a Civil Servant, looking forward to retiring with a well-earned pension in December 2025. However, the proposed FY25 budget, which includes a move from the high 3 to the high 5, is both devastating and demoralizing. This move, along with other proposed provisions, specifically eliminating the Special Retirement Supplement (SRS), which provides additional benefits for retirees younger than 62 but who had a long federal work history unfairly affects millions of federal employees.

These changes will not help our country's growth in any significant way but will instead affect the livelihood of nearly 2.5 million people, as per the Office of Personnel Management 2020 report. Year after year, federal employees like myself have worked tirelessly, contributing to the success and smooth functioning of this great nation. To reduce our rightful pensions after long years of service, alerting us to this change just when we are nearing retirement, is not the way to honor or thank your workforce.

We must stand together against the FY25 budget proposal's unjust provisions, reminding our elected officials that federal employees deserve better treatment and respect. Pledge your support by signing this petition. Together, let's ensure that federal employees receive the retirement benefits they have earnestly worked for and truly deserve.
