My fellow Kenyans and I stand on the brink of drastic changes in our lives that could impact our quality of life Long term. The proposed Finance Bill of 2024 is expected to impose burdensome taxes that may greatly reduce our quality of life. Yet, it feels as if the government is not taking steps to support us, ordinary citizens, in these trying times.

We believe that a government's duty is to uplift its people, to support them especially when times are tough. If passed, the Finance Bill 2024 will contradict this fundamental expectation. Hence, it's essential to assert our opposition against it now. With the rising costs of living, many Kenyans will find it harder to afford basic needs, and this could exacerbate poverty rates, which is already at 29.2% according to World Bank data (World Bank, 2021).

In essence, we, as Kenyans, are urging the government to consider the effects of this bill on its citizens. We hope they take a humane approach to their policy making. We assert our right to a good quality of life and demand the rejection of the Finance Bill 2024 for the greater good of all Kenyans.
