At last, it’s been announced that Cheshire East Council Planning Committee will meet and vote on the application to build 375 houses on land at the Ilford site on Wednesday 12 November, 10:30am at Macclesfield Town Hall. Because of the dramatic effect such an application would have on Mobberley, if granted, we in RAMS are urging every local resident who can make it to get down to the meeting and make sure councillors are confronted with a packed public gallery. However, I have to warn everybody who has the best interests of our village at heart, that the prospects for a successful outcome to this meeting (from a Mobberley viewpoint) are not promising. I have managed to get hold of the Public Health Assessment which will be presented to the councillors at the meeting that basically says there are no public health reasons not to build at the site. However, it appears the assessment was commissioned and paid for by the developers, not the Council as we were led to believe was going to happen. Unsurprisingly, the assessment commissioned and paid for by the developer is in favour of the development!! RAMS and the Parish Council are looking to engage their own experts to ‘peer review’ the application this week.
