Reject Outdated Hybrid/Online Education Rules for Washington State Massage Schools

Reject Outdated Hybrid/Online Education Rules for Washington State Massage Schools
The Issue
We, as Washington State massage school educators, strongly object the proposed hybrid/online education rules being presented by the Washington State Board of Massage Therapy. As stated, these regulations are outdated and only serve to prevent our massage schools from progressing forward in the field of education.
The flexibility of the learning environment is now a fundamental aspect of our current societal norms. Other healthcare professions such as physical therapy, nursing, and medicine have embraced this modern approach, allowing for theory-based subjects to be taught through online learning or a hybrid learning model.
The intention behind such a change is not to eliminate personal touch or practical learning, but to weave technology into our curriculum in a way that supports the expansive growth that occurs in the classroom. A study from the National Education Association has shown that a blended learning approach can enhance student engagement, improve learning outcomes and increase flexibility for students.
Our profession is not one that should be left behind in the era of digitalization. Hybrid learning methods enable our schools to reach a broader student base, offering flexibility and making education accessible
As such, we are urging the Washington State Board of Massage Therapy to reconsider the proposed rules that threaten to limit our growth potential and hinder our teaching capabilities. Let's draw from the success of other healthcare professions and allow for hybrid and online learning in our massage therapy educational institutions, keeping us at the forefront of educational innovation.
In the ever-evolving world of education and healthcare, our profession too must evolve. Let us not be left behind. Sign this petition to support the rejection of outdated hybrid/online education rules for Washington State massage schools.
