Reject Cicero Institute-written bills

The Issue

So far, the Cicero Institute has passed legislation in 9 states:
Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Idaho, Mississippi and Tennessee.

We are calling upon lawmakers in your state to reject any bills that have been drafted by the Cicero Institute and to resist the covert influence of dark money in our state politics.

The Cicero Institute, a privately funded think tank, is known for crafting legislative policies that align with its own agenda, often benefiting a select few at the expense of the broader public interest. Their involvement in our legislative process raises significant concerns about transparency, accountability, and fairness. Reports indicate that the institute's bills have been introduced in various states, often without adequate scrutiny or public awareness, leading to policies that may not reflect the needs or desires of Indiana residents.

It is crucial that our lawmakers act independently, basing their decisions on objective, transparent analyses rather than allowing external entities to shape our laws behind closed doors. By rejecting Cicero Institute-drafted bills, legislators can uphold the principles of transparency and accountability, ensuring that all legislative proposals are subject to rigorous public examination and debate.

Moreover, the influence of dark money in this process cannot be overlooked. Dark money refers to funds used in political campaigns or policy making, where the sources of the money are not disclosed to the public. This lack of transparency poses a risk to the democratic process, as it can lead to policies being influenced by undisclosed, and potentially unfavorable, interests.

Demand independent, transparent policy analyses instead of relying on opaque and potentially biased reports. Let us champion a future where legislation is crafted in the open, with full public knowledge and participation, rather than behind the shroud of secrecy and financial power.

Please sign this petition to make your voice heard and help protect the integrity of your state's legislative process from undue external influence.
