Petition updateSTOP THE BAHIA MAR FIASCO AND THE WAVE TROLLEY FOLLYWHO IS MISLEADING WHO? WHAT’S HAPPENING TO “A” DOCK
Citizens Against Bahia Mar Fiasco
Dec 6, 2017
Lessee’s attorney Robert Lochrie attacked the Petition, charging that our predictions about were false and misleading. If anything can be said Mr. Lochrie is a smooth talker. The meeting was totally lacking in transparency and factual information about the proposal. The Commissioners who voted to approve the Fiasco asked almost no questions for 8 hours. This Petition will be revealing the truth about the Bahia Mar Fiasco which you will not hear answered by the Lessee and we will ask (and answer) questions that the City Commissioners should be asking if they were truely representing the Citizens of this City. Let’s start with one question about the site plan that should have been asked about the Fishing Village along AIA. The Lessee would not discuss. Here is the reason. Mr. Lochrie and Mayor Seiler said that the marina was not being changed. However, we have learned that the Lessee plans to fill in “A” Dock with concrete (where fishing boats are docked). The displaced boats will be moved to B Dock and retail will be built in place of “A”. The Leesee avoided revealing this because it is a violation of the Lease, which requires the Lessee to maintain Bahia Mar’s “character” as a marina. This is also an alteration of the marina as well as a reduction in the size of the marina which requires approval by the Lessor. Technically, the Lessor in approving the site plan last night approved the filling in “A” Dock even though this was not explained nor discussed. Occupants of “A”’Dock are not happy. They feel that the marina will eventually be closing with this Commission approval Tuesday. They also think that the Boat Show will be relocated for the next five years. Is the Leesee and Marine Industries (Owner of the Boat Show) lying to us?
