In a rare burst of inquisitiveness the Commissioners (Roberts and McKinzie), who voted to approve the Bahia Mar Fiasco and who asked zero, zilch, nada questions of Leesee during 8 hour hearing, jumped all over the Peitition results when presented to them at the hearing. They insinuated that the names were not authentic and questioned the legitimacy of names that were from outside of Fort Lauderdale. My own cousIn keeps his boat here and he signed. Other people I know who own property and pay taxes here signed when they were in their non-Fort Lauderdale home. These and many other people outside of Fort Lauderdale signed. These are the kind of people we want to attract to our city and they have as much right to express their opinion as voting full time residents. After all, McKinzie, himself did not own property or live in Fort Lauderdale before he was appointed by Mayor Seiler to fill the empty Commission seat. And none of the Lessees live in Fort Lauderdale yet they and their family, friends, employees and neighbors contributed heavily to the McKinzie and Roberts campaigns as well as Seilers.
