Rochelle Golub, an attorney, is one of the Planning and Zoning Board Members who voted in favor of the Bahia Mar Development Proposal in October. In 2014-2015 Golub also served as Treasurer of Commussioner Bruce Roberts’ political campaign for City Commissioner. (See campaign report below. Bruce Roberts is now running for Mayor). http://www.fortlauderdale.gov/home/showdocument?id=6789 The Roberts 2014 campaign (and Mckensie’s) was substantially funded by contributions from Bahia Mar Partners, Tate and Rok, and their employees, neighbors, family, subcontractors, friends and associates. Commissioner Bruce Roberts has been a major supporter of the new Lessees’ (Tate and Rok) Proposal and has voted in favor at Commission Meetings. It is notable that Rochelle Golub has switched her position from being passionately opposed to residential development at Bahia Mar in the past when Bahia Mar was being leased to the prior leaseholder, LXR. In 2011 she presented a powerful and convincing legal argument against even minimal residential development at Bahia Mar. Now that Bahia Mar is being operated by Tate and Rok, the new Miami based Lessee, Golub is not only in favor of the Tate Project that proposes significantly more residential developemnt, she is “excited’ about it. It is hard to reconcile this 180 degree shift. It is time for new leadership in Fort Lauderdale. Most of the Commission are lame ducks. At a minimum, the current Tate-Rok proposal should be deferred until a new administration and elected officials are in office in 2018 with a clear mandate from the Citizens of Fort Lauderdale.
