Petition updateSTOP THE BAHIA MAR FIASCO AND THE WAVE TROLLEY FOLLYWave Streetcar is Bad Omen for Bahia Mar Project

Citizens Against Bahia Mar Fiasco
Oct 25, 2017
The Bahia Mar Fiasco is being brought to you by the same Planning and Zoning Commission and by the same Mayor and City Commissioners who approved the Wave Streetcar. The Wave is two years behind schedule (thank goodness) and $74 million over budget-and it hasn’t even broken ground. See yesterday’s Sun-Sentinel expose below. The City needs to cut its looses and scrap the Wave Streetcar Project which is hopelessly off the tracks (one of the major reasons for approving the project was that the City would loose a
federal grant under Obama’s Stimulus Plan!)
The City’s policy decision-making mechanism is seriously flawed if it could approve such a foolish concept as the Wave Streetcar. Major policy decisions are being made by a few public officials and staff who are woefully inexperienced in major urban development projects. Far reaching policy decisions, such as the Bahia Mar Plan, should not be left to politicians who will out of office long before the Project breaks ground. These decisions are so important that they must be put before the electorate only after extensive scrutiny and public debate.
