As a resident of Greater Shepparton, I am personally affected by the City Council's decision to change our weekly waste bin collection to fortnightly. This has not only become highly inconvenient for families like mine but also poses serious health risks. Our bins are now often filled with maggots and attract an increased number of flies, creating an unsanitary environment in our homes and neighborhoods.

Trips to the local tip have become a weekly occurrence. This change has led to increased rubbish dumping in local areas - a clear indication that the current system is failing us.

The council collects significant amounts from ratepayers like us; it is only fair that we demand services commensurate with what we pay for. We insist on reinstating the weekly collection as it was before these changes were made.

According to World Health Organization guidelines, inadequate solid waste management can lead to serious health risks including respiratory problems and gastrointestinal diseases (source: WHO). The current situation clearly violates these guidelines and puts all residents at risk.
