Reinstate the Uptown Albuquerque Christmas Tree Lighting Event

The Issue

As a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, I have fond memories of our annual tradition - attending the Christmas tree lighting event in Uptown. This event was not just a celebration; it was an integral part of our community's holiday spirit and local economy. It brought joy to families like mine and attracted business to the Uptown area during the holiday season.

However, this cherished tradition has been discontinued, leaving a void in our community's festive celebrations and impacting local businesses that relied on the increased footfall during this time.

According to data from the City of Albuquerque Economic Development Department, holiday events like these can boost local business revenue by up to 20% (City of Albuquerque Economic Development Department). The discontinuation of this event is not only affecting our community spirit but also negatively impacting our local economy.

We urge city officials to reinstate this beloved tradition. Bring back the Christmas tree lighting in Uptown Albuquerque! Let us revive our community spirit and support local businesses during these challenging times. Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving traditions that make holidays special for families and beneficial for businesses in Albuquerque.

Don’t be a grinch and let’s bring the Holiday spirit back to ABQ! This was a tradition that was taken away by Covid and we can’t let it take anything more from us. This will be an ongoing signature petition until we bring it back to the land of enchantment!
