New Mexico State House

The New Mexico State House, also known as the Roundhouse due to its unique circular design, is the seat of government for the U.S. state of New Mexico. Located in the heart of Santa Fe, this elegant piece of architecture houses the New Mexico Legislature and the office of the governor. Its atypical design, inspired by the traditional Navajo hogan and ancient ziggurats, is the work of architect W.C. Kruger and was completed in 1966. Inside, the New Mexico State House boasts a fine collection of Southwestern art and comprises multiple floors of offices and legislative chambers. Beyond its architectural and aesthetic significance, it stands as a testament to the state’s political life, serving as the epicenter of decision-making and legislation.
