Today, the University of California Davis posted a response in an attempt to defend its decision to cut the D1 equestrian team, citing a third-party report. The report is, shockingly, fraught with errors.
The more we analyze the data, the more serious concerns we uncover:
❗ Drastically inflated expense figures
❗ Mislabeling and inaccurate definitions that reflect a fundamental misunderstanding of equestrian sport
❗ Financial representations that do not align with program realities
❗ Potential Title IX equity concerns
❗ Disparities in how women’s and men’s sports are evaluated and treated
When decisions impact student-athletes, transparency and accuracy matter. Equity matters. Title IX matters.
Our daughters have dedicated years of discipline, leadership, and hard work to compete at the Division I level. They deserve fairness, not flawed data and questionable accounting.
We will never stop fighting for them.
