Reinstate the Tradition of Our Pupils Attending St Modan's

The Issue

Our son, along with several of his friends, have been denied admission to St Modan's High School in Stirling. This is a school that generations of his father's family have attended. One of our son’s classmates, who already has a sibling at the school, was also refused. These children have grown up together for seven years under the assumption that they would continue their education journey as a unit at this high school. The disappointment and heartbreak they are experiencing is immeasurable.

Stirling Council has broken a long-standing tradition by refusing pupils from St Bernadettes and St Mungos Catholic primary schools admission to this esteemed institution. This decision was dropped on us just two months before the end of term, leaving us little time to react or prepare for alternative arrangements. Not only has this decision affected Clackmannanshire schools it has affected schools within Stirlingshire. Therefore is NOT a catchment issue like previously suggested by Stirling Council.

Schools Affected: St Bernadettes, St Mungos, St Margret's, Our ladys and St Patricks

The transition process involving these children began as early as primary 6 – an investment in time and emotional preparation that now feels wasted. It’s not just about preserving tradition; it’s about respecting the bonds these children have formed over years and acknowledging their expectations for their educational journey.

We call upon you to reconsider this decision which affects not only our children but also sends ripples through our community fabric. Let us preserve our traditions while prioritizing what is best for our young learners' emotional well-being and academic continuity.

Please sign this petition urging Stirling Council to reinstate traditional admissions practices allowing pupils from both primary schools into St Modan's High School.
