Reinstate the Original Parking Arrangement for Tenants at Casa De Valle in Redlands, CA

Reinstate the Original Parking Arrangement for Tenants at Casa De Valle in Redlands, CA
The Issue
In the city of Redlands, CA, a change in the parking arrangement of a residential building is gravely affecting the residents, particularly our disabled community. Many of us tenants are disabled and have a hard time getting to and from our vehicles. Our original parking spots were easily accessible and a lifeline for our daily functioning. The parking at the back and sides of the building has always been a dedicated spot for family members and visitors for the past decade.
However, this longstanding tradition was abruptly upended without consideration for its impact on residents, fundamentally altering the lives of many of us tenants. With an aging population, it is estimated that about 26% of adults in California have some kind of disability, and for some, reliable access to their vehicle is critical for their daily living (California Health Interview Survey, 2017).
This change is personal to everyone living here: it challenges the daily routine and safety of the most vulnerable inhabitants. We believe everyone should have access to personalized parking that respects their needs. By denying this, the community is excluding some of its most treasured members from participating fully in the life of the building, the community, and the city.
We are asking for a return to the original parking arrangement that served this community effectively for the past decade. Please consider the needs of the disabled and elderly tenants who heavily rely on the original parking spots. Join us in reversing this decision and reinstating the original parking arrangement with immediate effect.
Please sign this petition and help us secure accessible parking for all residents in our building.
