I am a survivor of sexual assault, violated not once but twice by individuals who continue to walk free. This is not just my story; it's the narrative of countless victims whose perpetrators remain unpunished or inadequately penalized. The reoffending rates for these criminals are alarmingly high - higher than those for murderers. According to a study conducted by the Bureau of Justice Statistics in the United States, an estimated 5.3% of sex offenders were arrested for another sex crime within three years of release from prison.

The current justice system seems insufficient in deterring these heinous crimes or providing justice to victims like myself. It's time we reconsider reinstating capital punishment specifically for paedophiles, sex offenders and child abusers as a measure to protect potential victims and ensure that justice is served.
