Instead of one unified ceremony in our traditional CFG Arena setting, we are now asked to celebrate in smaller, divided groups at Reitz Arena. While we understand there may be logistical concerns, this decision starkly alters the vision we've all held dear throughout our college journey.
The CFG Arena is a symbol of our shared triumphs, where countless students before us have celebrated with their families and friends. It is a venue that accommodates the essence of what a college graduation should feel like—grand, unifying, and monumental. The transition to Reitz Arena, although practical, lacks the capacity and sentiment needed for an experience as significant as this.
The essence of graduation lies in shared experiences. By separating us into smaller ceremonies, the sense of unity and collective celebration is diminished. Imagine not being able to witness a dear friend's proud moment because they’re scheduled at a different time or not feeling the roaring applause and shared excitement echoing across the arena.
We propose a reconsideration of this decision. Perhaps logistical challenges can be managed by designating specific sections for different faculties within the arena or implementing a ticketing system to control audience numbers.
