Reinstate the Amtrak Three Rivers Passenger Train Service

The Issue

I am deeply passionate about the restoration of the Amtrak Three Rivers. This train, which ran daily between New York City and Chicago via Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Akron from 1995 until March 7, 2005, was more than just a mode of transportation. It represented connectivity and accessibility for many communities along its route.

I have ridden the successor to the Three Rivers, which is the Pennsylvanian, and while it is effective, It doesn't do justice for getting from Philadelphia to Chicago, because you have to transfer to the Floridian in Pittsburgh.

The Three Rivers replaced the Broadway Limited in 1995 and quickly became a vital link for many cities. Its discontinuation in 2005 left a void that has yet to be filled adequately by other services. The reinstatement of this service would not only provide an essential transportation option but also contribute to local economies along its route.

According to data from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), passenger rail services like Amtrak play a significant role in connecting rural areas with urban centers, providing an essential service for those without access to other forms of long-distance travel.

It's time we bring back this crucial piece of our national transportation network. We urge Amtrak to restore the Three Rivers train service - for better connectivity, economic growth along its route, and improved travel options for thousands of people who rely on rail transport daily.

Please join me in urging Amtrak to reinstate this vital service by signing this petition today!
