Reinstate the $3 Per Delivery Pay System for Gopuff Delivery Drivers

Reinstate the $3 Per Delivery Pay System for Gopuff Delivery Drivers
The Issue
My name is Tyler, I am an Arizona GoPuff delivery driver who spends an average of 60 to 70 hours making a minimum of 125 all the way up to 200 deliveries every single week. When I started, I was paid $3 per delivery + weekly bonuses + tips - a rate that made it possible for me to provide quality service even when customers couldn't tip. This pay system also helped offset the costs of wear and tear on my vehicle. My fellow drivers and I deserve to be paid to offset the vehicle maintenance, especially with these 115° or higher summers here with no protection from the sun for us to park under and surrounded by concrete and asphalt, so you can imagine how fast a vehicle could break down in the extreme temperatures and driving conditions and I'm sure there is similar situations all over the gopuff delivery driver landscape.
However, the recent shift to a pay-per-route system has significantly reduced my earnings, also, added extra steps to the delivery process, no more weekly bonus, no driver appreciation and in turn is leaving me struggling to maintain my vehicle and continue providing quality services. The new system offers no clear explanation or justification; it only provides broad concepts that do not compensate for the increased time and effort we have to put into our work to still deliver with the quality that the customers deserve.
This company doesn't allow a clear way of communication about anything except through email and it takes days to respond and IF they answer your question or query completely, that is the end of the conversation there is no back and forth for any immediate issue and it's like they are putting us in the backseat treating us like we're not important.
So if your adding steps to the delivery process which as a result causes longer delivery times, and then reducing the base pay, took our delivery goal based weekly bonuses away, all of that with a post-pandemic inflating market, where is the sustainability?
Another thing I find interesting is who gets paid the extra $2.95 for the fastest delivery time option that customers can pay for on their order? I also think that this is completely undermining the tip for the drivers because a lot of people are going to pay to get their order faster before tipping a nice tip to the delivery driver.
Why would you do that?
This just seems unquestionably unfair.
In an economy where costs are continually rising, lowering our pay further exacerbates our financial struggles. It's crucial to remember that this isn't just about us as workers – it's about maintaining the quality of service that we strive to provide every day. Since I started just over a year ago this company has added multiple steps to the process of delivery and reduced the pay a couple of ways and I don't understand why that is ok?
We urge those in charge to reinstate the $3 per delivery payment system. This change will not only support us as workers but also ensure we can continue delivering high-quality service for everyone despite economic challenges.
Please sign this petition if you believe in fair compensation for hard work and dedication. We are not asking for anything over the top, just fair pay.
