Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Of the 5 Strike Honoring, Cancelled Television Series, strange things are happening. Bob Hearts Abishola just aired 4 repeat episodes on the CW on a Friday night in Prime Time! This is a big deal.
Here is what Paramount / CBS apparently did, not only did they rip the hearts out of fans and the Showrunners of So Help Me Todd, Bob Hearts Abishola, NCIS Hawaii, Blue Bloods and CSI Vegas, they now profit by airing the television series anywhere they can.
Then they further profit by replacing these television series with lower budgeted Television Series.
Why not reinvest the syndication profits into new episodes? NCIS Hawaii is still running late at night. Blue Bloods has been syndicated for years on multiple cable channels. I just saw the other CBS cancelled series, Young Sheldon, also airing in syndication.
Then there is So Help Me Todd, which has eight 2nd Season episodes that only were broadcast one time and would clearly be a superior alternative to some of the offerings I am seeing on CBS in prime time.
Everything seems to be pointing to maximizing profits of existing Scripted television series, while continuing to find ways to drop budgets for any new scripted programming. Way too much focus on guns, death, law enforcement, game shows and reality TV. So Help Me Todd was and is a breath of fresh air.
