Today has been another important step forward for the Sandford Safety First – School Transport Campaign.
✅ Our campaign was featured on That’s TV Scotland, giving us the chance to speak directly about the dangers of the Sandford–Strathaven walking route.
✅ We challenged South Lanarkshire Council’s position that the route is “safe,” highlighting the reality: narrow paths, no barriers, no lighting, and no safe crossings.
✅ The petition has now passed 925 supporters – an incredible show of strength from our community in just over a week.
✅ Our MSP, Màiri McAllan, has confirmed she is pressing the council for answers, and an FOI has already been submitted (22/08) to hold them accountable.
This is real progress — but the campaign doesn’t stop here. We will continue to:
🚸 Push for a transparent reassessment of the route.
🌍 Challenge the council’s approach that ignores safety and environmental concerns.
📰 Maintain media attention so our children’s safety stays in the public eye.
Your support is making a difference. Please keep signing and sharing the petition so we can reach 1,000 supporters — together we are showing the council this community will not accept unsafe routes for our children. 🙏
