✅ Formal complaint submitted to South Lanarkshire Council.

Complaint highlights breaches of their own West of Scotland Road Safety Forum Guidance (footway, traffic speed, crossings, and lack of survey).

We stressed that the route is unsafe for ALL children in Sandford, not just certain parts of the village.

The issue has also been raised with our local MP, who is aware of the risks facing families and will be in touch in the coming days.

I am in touch with local/national media outlets regarding the issues.

Wider concerns raised include:

Contradiction with the Council’s environmental commitments (more cars, more congestion).
Families paying higher council tax for fewer services.

We have requested a full review of the decision and the reinstatement of safe, inclusive transport for ALL Sandford pupils.

A 10-working-day deadline has been set for the Council to respond.

Next Steps:

If the Council does not respond satisfactorily, we will escalate the complaint to Stage 2 and, if necessary, to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO).

We will continue to work with our local MP, councillors, and the media to make sure this issue is not ignored.
