Reinstate Pickleball at Fish Lake Woods Park Courts

Reinstate Pickleball at Fish Lake Woods Park Courts
The Issue
UPDATE: There is a Parks and Rec board meeting at 7pm on Thursday, June 19, at city hall. Show up and show support! Keep spreading the word and calling the Parks and Rec Department at (763)494-6500!!
Dozens of my neighbors and I cherish playing pickleball at the public tennis courts at Fish Lake Woods Park in Maple Grove, MN. The courts not only served as a place for invigorating exercise but also became a hub for community bonding. Pickleball, with its simple setup and inclusive nature, attracted players of all ages and skill levels, enhancing our neighborhood's spirit.
Unfortunately, pickleball has recently been prohibited on these courts, limiting our access to this incredible sport. Many residents, particularly seniors and families, relied on pickleball for their daily exercise and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Its removal has disrupted our routines and reduced our opportunities for physical activity.
Pickleball is not only a fun activity but a crucial component of our efforts to foster community wellness. Given that Maple Grove prides itself on promoting active living and community connections, allowing pickleball access again aligns with these values.
We propose implementing a fair schedule that accommodates both tennis and pickleball activities, ensuring an inclusive environment for all residents. Simple solutions, such as time slots or designated areas for pickleball, can easily address any potential conflicts with tennis players and noise concerns.
Reinstating pickleball on our public courts would rejuvenate our community's enthusiasm for exercise and social interaction. Support this cause by signing the petition to ask our local authorities to bring back pickleball at the public tennis courts at Fish Lake Woods Park in Maple Grove, MN.
